The Birdwood House Trust was formed in November 1957 by Douglas W Mitchell to provide accommodation for various educational and community activities including, to quote the Trust Deed… “a rest room for the benefit of residents in and visitors to the Borough [of Totnes] who are over 60 years of age”. Today Birdwood House is a busy community resource with many and various classes and a very popular art gallery. Registration number 205698
